Cadets (ages 8-12)

Our Cadet program is designed to challenge and inspire children as they develop both their physical and mental skills. In these classes, students are introduced to the full ITF Taekwon-Do syllabus, including patterns (Tul), self-defence techniques, sparring, and exciting elements like flying and jumping kicks.

Building Confidence, Focus, and Friendships

At this stage, children begin to understand goal setting and personal responsibility as they work towards higher belt levels. Our structured curriculum ensures they develop essential qualities such as focus, discipline, perseverance, and respect - traits that benefit them in school, sports, and daily life.

Beyond physical training, Cadet classes encourage teamwork and friendship in a positive, supportive environment. For those who love competition, there’s also the opportunity to join our squad program and compete in tournaments at regional, national, and international levels.

Whether your child is looking to build confidence, improve fitness, learn valuable self-defence, or simply enjoy a fun and motivating activity, our Cadet Taekwon-Do program provides the perfect foundation for their personal growth.

FAQS

Is Taekwon-Do safe for beginners?

Yes, Taekwon-Do is safe for beginners when taught by experienced instructors in a controlled environment. At Hollingsworth Taekwon-Do, safety is our top priority. We start with fundamental techniques, emphasise proper form, and ensure a gradual progression as you build skills. With the right guidance and respect for your training partners, Taekwon-Do is a safe and enjoyable martial art for all skill levels.

What should I wear to my first Taekwon-Do class?

For your first class, just wear something comfortable that you can move easily in, like a t-shirt and joggers or leggings. Avoid anything too baggy or restrictive. Once you decide to continue, you’ll be able to get a proper Taekwon-Do uniform (dobok).

How often should I train in Taekwon-Do to see progress?

We offer two classes per week, which provides the perfect balance for steady progress without being overwhelming. Most students attend both sessions, as training regularly helps build confidence, improve fitness, and retain skills more effectively. As you develop, you’ll find that twice-weekly classes give you plenty of time to practice, progress through the belts, and reach your goals.
